As a result of widespread media coverage, four of the stolen tamarin monkeys have been found and returned to Blackpool Zoo. The tamarins, which had been stolen overnight 29th to 30th April 2014 were recovered from an address in Brighouse, West Yorkshire late on Friday night. The tamarins appeared to have been abandoned by the thieves. A 4 month old Cotton-topped tamarin has not yet been recovered.
Andy McWilliam from the National Wildlife Crime Unit said, “It is good news that these endangered species have been recovered and are being cared for at the zoo. We are still making every effort to trace those responsible for this crime”
