The case against a Cumbrian man accused of offering ivory for sale has been sent to Crown Court. Shane David Ball aged 27yrs, of Derwent Avenue, Workington appeared before District Judge Daniel Chalk, Workington Magistrates Court on 17th June 2016 for offences contrary to the Control in Endangered Species (Enforcement) Regulation 1997. The offences related to the illegal trade in elephant ivory and leopard skin. District Chalk ordered that the case should be sent to the Crown Court. Ball, who has not yet entered a plea, will appear at Carlisle Crown Court on Monday 18th July 2016.
