“A herd of fallow deer in a Westcountry park have been set upon by thugs with dogs, leaving two dead and two so badly injured they had to be destroyed.
But the poachers, who broke into the National Trust country park by cutting a hole in a fence, left one of their dogs behind – which could prove to be a vital clue in tracking down the criminals.
John Stowers, South West deer liaison officer with the Deer Initiative, is appealing for help to trace the gang members and believes someone might recognise the dog.
Mr Stowers, who is based in Devon, manages the fallow herd for the National Trust at Dyrham Park, near Bath, where the attack took place.”
